Marta
This ongoing project is an intimate exploration of my adopted sister Marta's life, shaped by early childhood trauma and the subsequent challenges that followed. Marta’s story began with a brain injury caused by an assault and a subsequent surgery that forever altered the course of her life. Marked by isolation, behavioral struggles, and periods of living on the streets, her life became a painful journey of survival.
Through photography, I seek to understand her complex journey and our fractured relationship. Each image is a piece of a puzzle, reflecting moments of connection amidst the chaos of her life. The process is both therapeutic and emotional, allowing me to accept Marta for who she is while suspending judgment. This work is my way of coming to terms with her past, and our shared story.
